France’s invitation to unanimously adopt a joint declaration on the death of Osama Bin Laden rubbed members of the Security Council the wrong way.They refused to pen their signature on the initial text which alluded to President Obama’s announcement of the recent demise of Public Enemy No. 1, considering that it was reported to have taken place already a decade ago.The wording ultimately adopted is "the Security Council welcomes the news on 1 May 2011 that Osama bin Laden will never again be able to perpetrate such acts of terrorism".
