Syrian official: Palestinian groups’ offices not to be shut down in Syria for good http://www.irna.ir/ENNewsShow.aspx?NID=30399809&SRCH=1

Syrian Ba’th Party leadership team member Shahnaz Fakoush said here Monday despite enemies’ assumption, offices of Palestinian groups in Syria would never be shut down here and Damascus would be those groups’ defender, as before. According to the IRNA correspondent in Damascus, the Head of the Syrian Ba’th Party’s People’s Organizations announced the news Monday night at a gathering titled ‘Resistance Loyalty Message to Syria from Palestinian Women’, held at Yermouk Palestinians Refugee Camp, a suburb of Damascus. 

She added, “Syria is a strong resistance castle, which is why they intend to break it, but Syria would keep on supporting the Palestinian resistance groups.”  Referring to the advancements of the west in scientific, technological and industrial fields, Ms. Fakoush said, “They are indebted to Islam for all such advancements, and therefore, it is quite natural for them to target Islam.” Elsewhere in her address, she reiterated, “They intended to besiege Syria and impose sanctions against our country, but new horizons were opened towards Syria from the side of such friendly and brother countries as Iran and Turkey.”

Fakoush also referred to, and warned against the cultural onslaught of the west against the Islamic countries, and the enemies’ efforts aimed at destroying the Islamic, national and patriotic values in the Islamic and Arab world countries. After her address, a number of women from the Palestine-Iran Friendship Association, including Ms. Sahar Jibril, in charge of that organ’s Women’s Office, Ms. Hoda Nezam from the IRI Cultural Attaché in Syria, and Ms. Majedah Qotait the head of the Syrian Nation’s Women’s Union gave lectures.

The spoke about Syria’s defense for the resistance forces, promoted the culture of resistance, emphasized that Israel is on the path leading to eventual annihilation, and stressed the need for Islamic unity among the Arabs, the non-Arabs, the Shi’as, the Sunnis, and even the Christians and the non-Zonist Jews, in defense of the Palestinian ideals, and in defense of the political legitimacy of the Syrian system. The sponsors of the event were the Palestine-Iran Friendship Association and the Syrian National Women’s Union.The participants at the gathering were a large number of women and personalities from Palestine, Syria, and the Islamic Republic of Iran’s offices in Damascus.
